Neal F from Kenmore

My medical condition which I now label as chronic fatigue started some 7 years ago when I was on my macadamia farm in northern NSW. At the time I described my condition to my GP as feeling unwell, tired, fatigued. The unwell feeling is like having the flu when you have not got the flu. I distinguish tired from fatigued. Tired, for me, is wanting and needing sleep. Fatigue is having no energy and no strength.

While on my farm I would get bouts if my unwell condition which would last several weeks then it would pass, and I would feel normal again. Over time the bouts of unwellness became more frequent and more intense. I saw a number of GP’s about my condition. Blood testes were done but nothing was diagnosed. The blood tests did however indicate that I had been exposed to several viruses including glandular fever.

Having no success with the GP’s, I decided to see a Naturopath in Lennox head who did some tests including a liver blood test. He concluded I probably had toxic infections the most significant being parasite infection, he attributed the parasite infection to my drinking tank water on the farm. He also diagnosed low immune resistance and leaky gut. He treated me with medication which after two to three months, I would have another attack, so another visit to the naturopath.

After 7 years on the farm, my wife and I sold the farm and moved to Brisbane, my unwell condition by now had become a more permanent condition. I decided I needed to know if there was any underlying cause to my condition and asked my new GP if he could find an answer. Over 2 years I had numerous tests, x-rays, body scans, brain scans, ‘hundreds’ of blood tests, you name it, I was tested from head to toe. All testes came back negative.

My condition got worse, to a point where I was seriously thinking of giving up my job. Normally I was a very active person, so I became quite depressed about my condition.

My GP, having exhausted all the tests he could think of sent me to a specialist GP who prescribed Prozac. He explained that it was likely I was not getting proper ‘deep sleep’ when I was sleeping and was therefore waking up tired, I took the Prozac for 2 months, but it did nothing to relieve my condition. In fact, I felt more tired, and the Prozac killed my sex life stone dead. I flushed the Prozac down the toilet.

At this time, I was searching the internet for answers to my condition and came across and article by an Englishman who described an illness he had which sounded identical to mine. After several years of trying to seek an answer from traditional medicine he was finally persuaded by a Naturopath to undergo a controlled detox, which he did and is now a cured man.

The article inspired me to find a local Naturopath who offered a detox program similar to the one undertaken by the Englishman. I found Peter Kahler.

At my initial consultation, Peter asked if I wanted just my symptoms treated or a long-term remedy that would get to the cause of my condition. I chose the latter. I wanted a lifetime solution.

I did Peter’s three-month detox program which included diet changes, herbal medication, and supplements. One of the initial tests Peter had me do was a pathology test on my adrenal glands. The test revealed that my adrenal glands were not functioning as they should. Interestingly, it is said that an imbalance in endocrine function can lead to substantial fatigue.

Two weeks into the program I got considerable relief from my tiredness, but it was not until the end of the program that I started to feel less fatigued and stronger. Now, nearly 2 months after my detox I am feeling good – almost back to normal.

I believe the detox package Peter offers works. The diet is critical but so are the supplements. Thank you Peter for making me normal again – it is good to feel alive once more.

I have accepted my diet changes as life-time changes and will be booking in for my annual pit stop filter cleanser. And of course, there will be my daily health supplements and plenty of protein.
